Bath And Body Products

How many of you actually feel your hair and skin appears to be healthy, I hear so many people complaining about dry skin and dry hair. Did you know the bath and body products you purchase from you stores contains harmful chemicals which may contribute to cancer one day. Many of the big name bath and body companies are adding these harmful chemicals into you products just so they have a longer shelf life, but at the same time they are adding your risk for cancer.

  • Shampoos
  • Conditioners
  • Lip Balms
  • Body Washes
  • Bar Soaps
  • Body Lotions

Before you purchase any bath and body products you should start reading the ingredients, you will find most of your products contain Parabens which is an inexpensive preservative. You will also more likely find the ingredient Triclosan, which is known to be able to cause your endocrine system health problems. Even more scary is Triclosan is thought to be able to cause fertility problems as well, so what are some other harmful chemicals you should be aware of in your bath and body products.

  • Parabens
  • Triclosan
  • Formaldehyde
  • Phtalates

These chemicals in your bath and body products are toxic to your health, we must find ways to avoid so many of the chemicals in our products, or one day we may destroy the human race.

Essential Oil Hair Recipe

My favorite essential oil for this recipe is lavender oil, but you can also use peppermint or rosemary essential oils as well.

  • 1/4 Cup Home-Made or Canned Coconut Milk
  • 1/4 Cup Liquid Castile Soap
  • 20 Drops of Your Favorite Essential Oil
  • Lavender
  • Peppermint
  • Rosemary
  • Dry Hair Add 1/2 Cup Olive Oil or Almond Oil

Combine all the ingredients together into the container of you choice

  • Empty Shampoo Bottle
  • Glass Jar
  • Empty Pump Soap Dispenser
  • Empty Foam Dispenser

I recommend if you are using an empty foam dispenser add 1/4 cup of distilled water

  • Shake Well To Mix All The Ingredients Together
  • This Recipe Lasts Me About One Month
  • Be Sure To Shake Well Before Using Each Time
  • I Recommend You Start With About One Teaspoon And Experiment For Your Own Hair

When you put this recipe into a foam dispenser it makes an awesome shaving product as well, I just add about a 1/4 cup of water to dilute before using as a shaving product.

You can also use an equal mixture of apple cider vinegar and water to use as a rinse product, I have experienced this does help get my hair cleaner and increases the shine in my hair.

Recommended Essential Oil Hair Product

When I am extremely busy and I don’t want to take the time to prepare my own hair mixture I do purchase an essential hair product from time to time, I used to purchase the Argan Shampoo And Conditioner Duo and I was very satisfied with this product. Now I am using the Shea Butter Avocado Shampoo And Conditioner, I recommend either of these products for anyone who wishes to purchase an essential oil hair product instead of making their own home-made product.

Essential Oil Bubble Bath Recipe

  1. Combine castle soaps with vegetable glycerin and water into a glass bowl
  2. Add Your Lavender Essential Oil
  3. Pour Your Mixture Into A Glass Container
  4. Add 1/4 to 1/2 Cup of Bubble Bath Mixture To Warm Running Bath Water

The bubbles from this bubble bath will not last as long as you store-bought bubble bath product, but your chemical-free bubbles will last long enough to enjoy a relaxing and therapeutic bubble bath.

Recommended Essential Oil Bath Product

For those of you who are willing to splurge I recommend you consider purchasing the bath and body spa product, but I warn you this product will cost you about seventy-three dollars. I am not able myself to afford such a luxurious product, so for those of you on a budget I recommend the twelve piece bath bomb set.

Essential Oil Cocoa And Mint Soap Recipe

  • Shea Butter Soap Base
  • 1-2 Tablespoons Chopped Fresh Mint
  • 1-2 Tablespoons Cocoa Powder
  • 6-10 Drops Peppermint Oil
  • Soap Mold Container

I suggest if you want to save money from purchasing a soap mold container, you can substitute the soap mold container with any plastic container of you choice.

  1. Melt the Shea butter soap base with 30 second microwave intervals until liquefied
  2. Add you cocoa powder
  3. Add you chopped mint
  4. Add A Few Drops Of Your Peppermint Essential Oil

Your mixture should remind you of yourfavorite chocolate chip ice cream, you can add a few more drops of peppermint if the peppermint scent is not strong enough for you.

Stir up you mixture extremely well and pour into you soap mold or plastic container, I recommend you sprinkle a little more cocoa powder on top and allow your mixture to harden.

When your mixture is hardened take it out of the soap mold or plastic container, you will then cut into soap bars to the size you prefer. Now you soap bars are looking good enough to eat, I warn you to be careful you family does not mistake your soap bars for a treat.

Recommended Essential Oil Soap Product

Many of us will not have the time to always be preparing our home-made soap recipe, so I do suggest you have some ready-made essential oil soap product for a backup. I recommend the tropical essential oil soap set, I am really partial to this product as my backup if I run out of my home-made soap.

Essential Oil Lip Balm Recipe

What Is On My Mind Today?

We must start cutting back on all the products we are using with those harmful chemicals, I know in my heart these chemicals are the root cause of many of our health issues today especially cancer. We are just slowly killing ourselves with the products we use each and every day, I am seeing more and more people I know leaving this world much too young from cancer.

Very informative article Jeff, thank you. I think we all assume that picking soap, shampoo, conditioners, etc. must be fine to use as they have been placed on the shelves of our favorite stores.

Most of us , (including myself) don’t take the time to read the labels on these products or to consider the effects that may be having on our overall health. We need more information on this topic and this article goes a long way in detailing what to look for.

The homemade products look easy enough to create . One question: Would it cost more to produce your own products than it would from buying a commercial brand from the shelf? Just curious.

    Thanks again Jeff!

    • Jeff says:

      Thank You Luke
I am happy hearing from you today, you have asked a very good question which I do have
the answer since I have used some of these recipes myself.

Your investment to prepare these recipes might cost a little more than what you pay
for the commercial products depending on the brand you use, but you will find making
your own products with essential takes much less of the product and lasts me longer
than the products I used to use from the stores.

  • Steve says:

    Hi Jeff,
Great post on an important topic – improving our health with natural products for our skin and hair. I especially like the recipe for lip balm – quick and simple to make and it will cost a lot less than what we usually spend to sooth our chapped lips.
It often comes down to time and convenience. It is easier and quicker to just buy what we need at the store ready to use. Maybe you could add an estimated time to each recipe so we would know how long it will take to create.

    • Jeff says:

      Thank You Steve
I will take your suggestion and apply it in future posts,
but most of these recipes you are talking only minutes to prepare.
You are just mixing the essential oils and a carrier oil together,
mixing well and then they are ready to use

Great recipes! Thank you. I am trying to get rid of chemicals I put in my body. Why not get rid of chemicals and garbage I put on my body. I am going to try several of these if not all of them. I will have to mix some “man friendly” scents for my husband to replace his old spice loving habits. Do you have any recommendations on oils you would add that he would like as much?
    Thank you!

This is great information and I love the recipes you provided. A couple years ago I started making my own laundry soap and my skin is so sensitive to detergents and I have had great luck. I have problems finding bath and body soaps as well and have used the castile soap before but never mixed anything with it. The recipe for hair sounds great. I do wonder though if the coconut milk stays good in the shower.

    • Jeff says:

      Hello Dena
I thank you for visiting my website and commenting on my post,
I really hope some of these recipes works out well for you.
Since you are using canned coconut milk is this recipe it
will stay good in the shower, so you can try this recipe
and let me know how it works for you.
