Music Therapy

Over the years I learned to use music therapy as a powerful anxiety relief tool, this technique is so simple yet very few people use this regularly. Most of us all enjoy listening or playing music, but the majority of us stop whenever anxiety takes control of our health. When we  become ill, negativity takes over and with it much of our commonsense and interests. How many of you, actually feel like listening to music or playing an instrument when your feeling anxious or in a negative mood?

How To Use Music To Control Your Brain

I am going to share with you all, how I learned to use music to control my brain. I am listening or playing music as much as I possibly can, I am going to share with you how I choose my music. Most people choose their music depending on their mood, well I am not any different then anyone else. Now comes the part where I am different then most people when choosing my music, see I also choose my music depending on my mood. When my anxiety is pretty high and I feel I just am not functioning well, I choose slow easy listening music or music you would use while doing meditation techniques. I have found this music brings my anxiety down, when my mood  is on the blue side I listen to my favorite classic rock music.

They say that you can tell a person’s state of mind by the music they listen to and I think you explain that well here. I use music to meditate with and it helps me relax enough to get my mind in the quiet phase. Have you tried a guided meditation?

    • admin says:

      Thank You Katherine

I am grateful for your comment on my article today, I have used guided meditation with good success. I also have participated in group meditation, therapy groups and even individual therapy.

I have never thought about how I could use music to improve my ability to learn!! DO you have any specific music that I should be listening to to learn with? I would think that Mozart would be good. These suggestions are great by the way. It’s amazing what music can do you for you mood and your attitude.

    • admin says:

      Thank You Brenna

Mozart and most of your classical and instrumental music is best for learning and improved productivity, music is another very powerful tool we need to use more productive to manage our health.

Awesome article! I have always said that the most amazing way to relax is using music. There are so many different styles of music, that the options for relaxing never repeat also! Depending on my mood, I can go from country to pop, and even some Linkin Park songs. Now add in all the different relaxation types they have, and the options expand even more.

    • admin says:

      Thank You Jessie

I truly do appreciate your comment on my article on music, I really feel this is one of the best and easiest relaxation techniques to use.

Music is a very powerful medium that can affect our mood and feelings. It’s great to know of the health benefits of music that you mentioned. I like listening to classical music in the background when I’m working. It relaxes me.

When done right, music is an art. I especially like classical music and Andrea Bocelli. He is such a rare talent.

    • admin says:

      Thank You Yvonne

I agree with you classical music can not be beat for relaxing you and being more productive, I appreciate you reading and commenting on this article and enjoy Andrea Bocelli

  • Samira says:

Omg I absolutely love it! I am a huge fan of music therapy. I dont know where I would be if it was not for music. However I learned a few things from your blog today. I love the way you broke it down and even made it deeper than I would of ever thought.

    • admin says:

      Thank You Samira

Happy you approve and learned something new about music therapy, yes everyone should use music to control their mood. It will improve their attitude very much, great for depression as well.

  • Miss Momo says:

I also use music as a mood booster and find your thoughts very interesting. But at the start you write about lack of scientific explanations. Is that really true? Aren’t there a lot of studies of how music affects the brain? If classical music can improve visual attention I assume somethings are recorded happening in the brain?

    • admin says:

      Thank You Miss Momo

There has been scientific studies on music for a very long time, scientists know who music affects us when exposed to certain music but they have no idea exactly what music does to our brains.

  • Alec Terry says:

You know I’ve always known that there was definitely some sort of connection between our brains and the music we listen to. While I have never tried to pursue this hypothesis with any real fervor, I have noticed that every time that I hear a song I like I automatically put myself into a better mood.

It really is like therapy. Thank you for this article on the inner workings of why this actually occurs and how we can incorporate it into our daily lives.

    • admin says:

      Thank You Alec

It is amazing how most of us never put the connection to music and our emotional health together, children at a very young age love music. It is an instinct inside of us to feel so much better with music in our lives, music has been in man’s life since the beginning of time.

  • Derek Marshall says:

    Hi there,

absolutely fantastic article and topic. Music has been known (and proven) for over 50 years to alter our mood. Playing our favorite and inspiring music has been scientifically and medically proven to alter our mood and improve stress and anxiety by stimulating (in a natural way) the levels of the neurotransmitter dopamine.

    • admin says:

      Thank You Derek

I appreciate your comment and sharing your experience with music, music is an amazing and free or a low investment for your health.

  • Jim says:

I’ve always loved music. As a teen I listened to mostly hard rock. But then I got older I started listening to country. Now I simply appreciate almost all music. Even as teenager, music has always been so relaxing for me. You might not think of hard rock as relaxing, but it can be. Great article though. What’s your favorite kind of music?

    • Jeff says:

      Thank You Jim

You know I did not start listening to music until I was in my 30’s regularly, my concentration
was that poor I could not focus on the music. In my 30’s I started listening to all types of
music, mainly classical rock and country rock. Now I listen to a wide variety, much more relaxing
music at the end of my day and more upbeat faster musice during my day.
