Kids Health-Stress And Anxiety Tips

Sharing is caring!

Kids Health

Many times we do not realize how our children’s health is affected by stress and anxiety, as adults very often we do not realize children do experience emotional issues just like  adults. Children experience stress every day just like you and me, their stress might be different than ours, but it is very emotional for them to deal with it much the same. Remember children are little people, their stress might not be from working or living expenses, but they are very important and serious to them.

Form A Bond With Your Child Early

Many parents do not recognize their child is experiencing anxiety, many children are very confused how they feel and have no idea why. It is a very good idea as soon as your child is old enough to communicate with you, set up regularly communication time for both of you to catch up with what is going on in each other’s life.  This will form a very close bond between you and your child, plus give your child much self-esteem feeling important and special to you. It might feel odd at the beginning for both of you, but this will benefit both or your lives more than you realize.

Family Time

I truly believe if more families spent more time together children today would be less anxious, I understand too well how busy parents are today. Especially with the high cost of everything,  today parents are working more than ever before. My parents both worked when I was a child, my father was not the type of person to spend quality time with his family. My father was very old fashion, he actually believed his duties as a husband and father were only to provide for our physical needs. I really feel when possible, every family should have some sort of family time. Even as a very young child, I always felt so alone all the time. My grandparents watched me while my parents worked, even though they took very good care of me, they were not my parents and could not replace the attention and love I was missing from my own parents.

Children Relaxation Techniques

How I wish I had known there was such a thing when I was a child as relaxation techniques, actually I was in my 40’s before I was aware there was such a thing. I am very big on everyone learning these techniques, very few people will go through their life without ever experiencing high stress and anxiety.  I did have a great coping skill for my anxiety until I was in my 30’s, that is when I lost my one and only coping skill. Once I lost  what was working for me I had no backup plan. My method was being as physically active as I possibly could, I burned my anxiety away until I became physically unable to be physically active. When that happened, I become so overwhelmed and anxious I could not function any longer.

Children’s  Anxiety Supplements

Another thing which made such a difference in my recovery was finding the right anxiety supplement, sadly every supplement does not work the same for everyone. I  tried so many supplements over the years before I found the one which works the best for me, taking one of these products daily is much better than taking all the medications I was taking in the past. The medications were not helping me very much, actually most was just giving me more symptoms to try to deal with.  The biggest problem is no one can prescribe the right product for you, even your doctor can not choose one of these products which would work for you. You must do the trail and error method, but believe me once you find the right one all the time you spend will be well worth it.

What Is On My Mind

I am very dedicated to helping everyone with their anxiety issues I possibly can, but even more important to me is the children. If we help the anxious children, they will not become anxious adults with phobias. So I do write articles quite often for children, I know how miserable my childhood was living with anxiety. I do not want this for your child as well, I will do as much as possible to share the best information and products for you and your child.

    Thanks for your information.

You are right. Childrens anxiety usually goes overlooked in many families. I come from a family that suffered through anxiety disorders and I know first hand what its like.

Good to see someone addressing the isssues with children! They hide it a lot more then adults.

    Keep up the good work!

I hope your doing much better now with your anxiety then in the past, I truly feel if we start when our children are young there will be much less severe adult anxiety and phobia in the future.

You make some great points in your article, how we all wish our parents had some of these skills when we were growing up. I was lucky that even though my parents were not educated, they were none the less very loving and giving people.

So I was very interested on your section on relaxation therapies. I am familiar with Deep Breathing Therapy,
Guided Imagery, Music Therapy, but not so much with Art Therapy or Energy Therapy.

Beside the one book you suggest are there other sources of information you could point me to in these two areas? Or maybe just offer a bit more about each as I would like to learn more. Thank you for your insights.

Art therapy is introducing you or a child to crafty type of art, art has a way of soothing and relaxing a person. The adult and children coloring also is considered art therapy, many adults are finding this very relaxing .

Energy therapy is rather new, its mainly using your bodies energy within to calm yourself inside. Some of the energy therapy are

Health Touch is using your finger tips very lightly to massage your tense areas or your child’s.

Therapeutic touch is similar to healing touch only a little more agressive

Qi Gong is a combination of breathing and over the head are movements which is very big right now

You have written such an important article. I agree with you that children’s anxiety can often be overlooked because parents are so busy and stressed themselves. It is a good idea to try and step into their shoes and realize that for them, their issues may seem huge and very important. I see you have recommended some supplements. Is it necessary to take your child to a doctor before giving them anything like this? Thank you for the book recommendations, they look really good.

I appreciate your opinion and taking the time to read my article, this is a very important quest for me to help people realize anxiety is becoming a severe problem today. Our main problem in my mind is our diets, too much sugar and sodium and preservatives.

The supplements I recommend in my children anxiety articles are recommended safe for children, I would recommend any parents to check with their child’s physician especially if the child is taking any medications.

St John Wort seems to be the safest and gives the best results for kids, plus it is fairly inexpensive compared to many other herbal supplements.

Lately I have begun to worry about my 2 year old. She is only just 2, but last night she was having difficulty sleeping and I couldn’t identify what the problem was. I started to think it was anxiety of some sort and I wondered what I could actually do short of continuously picking her up and cuddling her (I was exhausted and wanted nothing more than to sleep). But, I am curious how much understanding a 2 year old has when it comes to breathing techniques and the like. It is not just when she has problems sleeping-it is also her tendency to over react to things and her whole level of impatience when something doesn’t happen immediately for her. Could be just the ‘terrible two’s ‘ as they say, but sometimes I wonder whether the terrible two’s are a myth and there is something we as parents could be doing to make the ride a little smoother. What do you think?

    • admin says:

      Thank You Liz,

I really feel the terrible two’s is just like the terrible teens, both are a new level of anxiety affecting our children. Many children young as your daughter are already experiencing separation anxiety, this is why when you pick her up she is happy and content.

I think its terrible how the medical field labels problems they do not understand, they need to take anxiety morer serious it is causing many people to be debilitated by the time they reach adulthood.

If you have anxiety or your husband or your family history, I will consider the possibility anxiety could be the problem.

My daughter (a six-years-old), is very emotional and active, but I never thought her behaviour might be a sign of anxiety. This article was eye opening for me.
Thanks for the recommended reads, I will definitely check them out.
I don’t rely much on our doctor to prescribe the right treatment. How did you come to find what supplement works best for you?

    • admin says:

      Thank You Daniela,

I appreciate you taking the time to read my article, if your daughter shows signs of being extra sensitive than I would recommend you consider her to have some anxiety issues.

Sadly, finding the right supplement which works for each person is trial and error until you find one you feel the best. I recommend starting out with the least expensive and most common to work, than go from there.

      St John Wort

      Passion Flower

      Lavender

      Good ones to start with,

Your article surely touched me. I agree that children definitely also have their share of stress. It’s just that they are different and each acts and thinks differently as well. Some children may be less tolerant to stress and have a hard time dealing with it themselves. That’s why us as parents, being their for our children is so important. As adults, we should set the right example so this process does not get repeated again.

    • admin says:

      Thank You Reyhana,

I thank you for reading my article and commenting today, stress is affecting everyone no matter your age today. Often children do not show their anxiety in a way we recognize the symptoms, we must form a close bond with our children so they will share with us what they are feeling and thinking every day.
