Jobs For People With Social Anxiety- People Just Do Not Get It

People Just Do Not Get It

It is terrible even our medical professionals do not take our social anxiety serious enough, I spent many hours reading books and articles online trying to find a way I could work again. The suggestions for jobs we are able to do are just plain crazy, people do not understand with our social anxiety many of us can’t even get out of the house some days. I use to get all dressed up to go out to some place i really wanted to go, but you know what I could not push myself out the door. I truly hated myself when that happened, it actually did set me backwards. See when we fail because of our social anxiety, we lose whatever confidence and self-esteem we did have.

What The Medical Professionals Do Not Understand

Most of these jobs medical professionals recommend are just plain crazy for the majority of us with social anxiety, people even medical professionals must not understand how severe this anxiety issue controls our lives. One day we might , just might be able to get out of the house to go to a place of employment. What happens on the days we just can’t push ourselves to go out, most of us would not be able to maintain a long term job where we must interact with people most days. My opinion and my experience the only employment most of us would be able to do long term would be some type of work from home, that is why I am writing articles from home to help others learn to deal with their anxiety the best they can. Even as much progress as I have made with my own social issues, I know I could not do any job unless I can work from home.

What  Jobs The Medical Professionals Say You Can Do

I do not agree with these jobs as possible jobs for anyone with severe social issues, but here is the list of jobs the medical professionals suggest you can work despite your disability.

Medical Technician

Beauty Professional

Health Care

Social Assistance

Construction/ Industrial

Mechanic / Driver

Technology Specialist

Business / Financial / Administrative

Gardener / landscaping

How does our medical professionals & our government really expect people with social disabilities work in any of these fields, everyone of these fields you must be able to interact with people on a daily basis. Even owning your own physical business, would be a very challenging job for anyone with these problems. I have lost all confidence in our medical professionals and our government people who suggest such a thing, I truly do not feel  neither of these takes our anxiety issues serious as a  disability. Many of us are disabled because of our social issues, it is sad people do not understand and support us dealing with such a severe life controlling illness.

Recommended Jobs I Found

I struggled for many years to find something I could do to earn an income, people might not realize we do want to work and earn our own way in the world. We feel like puppy poop having to depend on the government or our family to help support us, the stress of not being able to work most of the time is a very big trigger for our social anxiety severity. I hope the two books I have shared in this article will help some of you find your place in today’s society again, here is the jobs I have found we could possibly work.

Final Thought

This article has truly been very emotional for me to write, I know how desperate many of you are to find your purpose in your life. I was the very same way for years, I have shared with you the program which got me started writing to you. It has changed my life, you can start out as a free member and see if this training is right for you. Then after you go through the free training, you can decide if you wish to continue as a premium member. The premium membership is very reasonable for all you learn, 47.00 per month such a small price for continuing learning for as long as your a member. I usually do not post my training program on this website, but thought since it changed my life it might change your life as well.

  1. Hello,
I just want to say thank you for your site. I under stand a lot about anxiety disorders. My wife suffered from post tramatic stress disorder from her first marraige. She suffered from anxiety and compulsive behavior disorders and she was bipolar. It took us neerly three years for her to qualify for disability. It was a long and painful wait.

I wish I had known what you know now back then. I think my wife would have loved doing some type of home project and make a little money doing it. We just didn’t know what to do.

I am glad that you are doing well these days and some of the publications you present seem very interesting as well.

Although I do not have anxiety issues, at least not severe I still think the supplements you offer are good for mental health for any one.

Thank you again. Keep up the good work.

    1. Thank You Rob

I am happy your wife is doing so much better now, your wife is fortunate to have your support through all her anxiety in the past. Many partners abandon their partner not able to deal with their anxiety, supplements are a good choice to add to your diet weather you have anxiety issues or not.

  2. It is very frustrating for people who feel they can’t work but want to work – my daughter for one. Working on the internet provides a way out of that rut and certainly enables that person to think better for themselves. Even if its not necessarily a paid full-time job but setting up their own website as my daughter did, it’s an achievement on its own.

    1. Thank You Sharon May

I am happy for your daughter, yes for people who long to work but can not its very frustrating even depressing. I know that for a fact, that was me before I started this website.

  3. A lot of us probably experienced some form of Social Anxiety in our lives and it’s not pleasant at all. People that are hired to help you tend to just talk rubish and make things even worse. The best way to deal with this situation is to try and resolve it yourself in your head or just avoid it.
Wealthy affiliate offers just that. Would recommend to anyone that wants to earn money online.

    1. Thank You Dejan

Social anxiety is born in people who have a severe case, stressful lives does increase the symptoms and poor diet. Avoiding negative people and situations is helpful, but not always possible. A good anxiety supplement is a good natural way to improve social anxiety, also learn some good coping skills.

  4. Hi Jeff,
Yes it is true, unless you experience anxiety you have no idea how debilitating it can be. Personally, I think that there are no wrong or right jobs for a person who struggles with anxiety, just the wrong or right job for YOU! I’ll give you an example. I suffered from depression and anxiety after a long period of caring for very ill loved ones. When they passed and I thought I had recovered from the loss, I decided I needed to re-focus myself and find a new career, that would fix everything. Since I had learned so much about the medical field during those years and there is a demand I took advantage of an offer to be a medical technician (one of those recommended jobs). It was okay while I was training I felt positive, competent and in control. Once I was working with patients it was another story. Any joy I should have been receiving by helping my fellow man was overshadowed by memories of sadness, pain and suffering. I was overwhelmed with anxiety and qui.t I could not go on, it was not a job for me. Having the focus to care for sick people may be the perfect job for someone else whose anxiety is cause by other reasons, such as abuse. For an abused person, healing may be just what they need as a career focus.
It may take a while, but for a person who struggles with anxiety, the right fit is important to feeling comfortable enough to succeed.

    1. Thank You Diana

I am sorry your new career did not work out for you, I think it also depends on what type of anxiety your dealing with with the right career. People with social anxiety need a job where they work more often alone then with larger groups of people, yes I tried many things myself before I found helping others through this website to be my calling.

  5. Hi there,
Great article, I really enjoyed reading it!
I am glad I came across your website because my sister is very anxious about her future. Oh, yes, she has a lot of diplomas, but she really dislikes her job and thinks about changing it. She just gave birth and she dreams to work from home in order to stay with her baby:) Which I understand completely! I have bookmarked your website so I can show her this awesome article, I am sure that this post will help her a lot!
Thank you very much for this excellent article

    1. Thank You Daniella

I appreciate your kind words about my article, your sister can start her own online business from home and still stay home with her little one. Wish her the best, thank you for sharing this article with her.

  6. Thanks for sharing such a personal story. This will definitely help a lot of people.

I’m can relate to what you are saying when you say that you have lost your trust in our medical people and the government. I have a younger brother that is suffering from social anxiety.

He maybe doesn’t have it as bad as you because he can work somewhat but some days it’s just impossible for him to get out of the house.

The wealthy affiliate looked super interesting. This is basically creating a online business right? I have been looking into these sorts of things to my brother but most of them you have to pay extra to build a website. Does wealthy affiliate let you build websites?

I will refer my brother to this article. Thanks a lot.

    1. Thank You Marcus

If your brother is stable enough to run an online business I highly recommend Wealthy Affiliate, you receive as a free starter member 2 free wordpress websites. I am a premium member and find two websites to run is more then enough for me.

Thank you for sharing my website with your brother, I do know what he is going through I was in the same situation not long ago. Some days we can function better then others, give my email address to your brother in case he ever wishes to contact me privately.

  7. Hello,

I am sorry to hear that mediacal professionals don’t take anxiety seriously. I knew someone who had also anxiety problems and it was so huge that she couldn’t even come with us outside and just enjoy life. Did you try to start a psychotherapy? I heard that it could help in some cases. Good luck to you!

    1. Thank You Angel

I am sorry to hear about your friend’s anxiety keeping her from being able to be outside with her friends, this does happen especially to people with social anxiety. The longer your friend stays indoors, the worse this condition will become.

Psychotherapy is very beneficial when you find the right therapist, I do recommend anyone giving them a chance. I have experienced positive and negative with therapists, if you do not give up and keep trying new therapists this can help change your life.

  8. Would you say that people who are intensely shy would have social anxiety? Or does it go way beyond that. It’s sad that the medical profession doesn’t even really understand these people. I think back to the movie, “What About Bob”. Seems he had the same affliction. All those fields you listed are jobs that would require some social skills. Sometimes the medical profession just doesn’t get it!

    1. Thank You Matts Mom

I am happy to hear someone agrees with me with the jobs the medical profession suggest for anxiety people require good social skills which is the most difficult skill for anxious people to perform especially in social situations.

Social anxiety is much more then just being extremely shy, people with social anxiety have severe panic attacks which makes them unable to function in social situations. Many isolate in their homes as much as possible because they feel calm and relaxed there, even going to the store for groceries for many is a challenge. Just talking to a cashier or asking them where a product might be, many people will do without the product just because they become so anxious at just the thought of talking to someone in public. Social anxiety is debilitating for many people, even if our medical professionals and government does not think so.

  9. Indeed, some people suffer from Social Anxiety and may not even know what it is. The paralysis I’ve felt sounds similar to what you described, but I think my particular symptom is of a Depressive nature, and may not fall under Anxiety.

I agree with your recommendation. During recovery, anyone with Social Anxiety (or any kind of Anxiety Disorder) can consider working from home. And an internet-based business can offer such an opportunity!

I hope more people with mental health issues (like us 😉 ) will come to know of Wealthy Affiliate and the benefits of the program!

    1. Thank You Girl

Many times anxiety and depression are both a factor in our health, both can cause so many symptoms its not always easy to know which one we are experiencing or if both might be causing us problems.

Wealthy Affiliate is the best affiliate training community for sure, working from home is becoming much more popular today,

  10. Thanks for the article Jeff.
I suffer from a mild anti-social disposition. I’ve never been technically diagnosed with anything. I have about 3 out of 7 days a week where I find it difficult to be around other people. I’m okay around people I’ve known for a while. But, outside of work I really have no social life.
I hate the thought of getting diagnosed and being put on medication. Especially with all the side effects of medication. Anyway, I probably should get checked out sometime.
    Thanks for the info!

    1. Thank You James

I understand your not wanting to be on any medication, I had more problems with anxiety medication then without the medication. I highly recommend you look into a natural herbal supplement, mild if any side effects for most people and much safer.
