Starting your day with yoga is a great way to begin your day it gives your brain and body a great start to your new day. Often when people attempt to add yoga to their lifestyle other times of the day unexpected things get in the way when you make it your morning wake up call you get your workout in and have the rest of your day for whatever life brings.  At first it might be a challenge first thing in the morning, but once you make it a habit,  it will be just like your other morning preparations. It is a fact when people do yoga in the morning they stick to it much more often then when doing it any other part of the day, your energy is at its highest at this time.

There are many more benefits doing yoga in the morning then any other time of the day, as I mentioned more people will stick to their workout when doing it in the morning. After our busy day many of us just do not have the energy left to workout, you might even find doing a short morning workout and a late afternoon or early evening workout to give you even more benefits. Prepare your yoga space the night before if you need to move any furniture, in the morning if you have to make room there is more opportunity to blow off your morning workout. Even though yoga mats are preferred by many people,  you can also workout on your carpet if this is comfortable for you. Some people have no problem doing their workout on wooden floors, having a towel in your space the night before and anything else you might need is your best preparation plan.

I highly recommend you using a good beginner DVD, this will make doing your workout much easier and more efficient for you. Difficult to learn starting out with books, best for home workouts are with good DVD’s.


What Is On My Mind

 

It only takes about 2 weeks for most people to develop a new habit, tough this out for the first few weeks, then it will be a part of your morning routine. You will just get up every morning and do this workout  naturally, after two weeks of doing this you will feel the benefits every day. Yoga is more than exercise, it is a total body and mind daily tune up. Be amazed at how much more productive you will, how much healthier you will feel physical and emotionally.

    When I think of yoga I think of relaxation. I like that you pointed out that relaxing is an exercise and you need to practice it.

    I also like your step by step guide. It definitely has motivated to want to get up several times a week on practice my yoga.

    Your site is extremely professional. Not to sound sexist as a man, but I found myself blowing up and looking at all the photos of yoga girls..they are beautiful to say the last. The more images the better. So, to make sense of what I just said and not to offend any woman out there….I love my wife and you just gave me great christmas ideas to buy her this type of clothing. She would look even better in it and she loves yoga. DO you offer anything for men related to Yoga on our site by chance. I am a yoga fan and it actually helped to heal my body after 6 surgeries ripped me apart. Yoga gave me peace and stretching and healing.

    Thanks for this great article. I have been doing yoga on and off for several years, and am not sure why I keep stopping because it makes me feel amazing when I do.

    I didn’t know that the optimal time to do yoga was in the morning, but when you explained it it makes perfect sense.

    I do dance, which is quiet similar to yoga in terms of flexibility and mindset, but not nearly so relaxing.
    Do you think I could jump from dance to yoga quite easily, or would it be hard work?

      Yoga will slow you down compared to dancing, this is why it is so good for stress and anxiety. I think yoga would go well with your dancing, it would help you slow down after dancing.

    I have been introduced to yoga world for more than 3 months and I just do yoga in the morning. And honestly, like you mentioned above, it does me a lot of favor. It helps me being more focused during the day, relax my body, and release all the stress. Thanks for sharing the DVD. I must get one to keep my yoga routine.

    I have tried doing yoga as part of my routine before and it was a good way to start the day. Working out in the morning was also beneficial for me. I don’t always have the same morning routine because I change it as needed. My current morning routine consists of qigong instead of yoga, but it’s still relaxing and helps stretch the muscles and prepare you for the day. I like your tip about preparing the space for your morning yoga session before going to bed. It definitely gets rid of that layer of resistance to following through on your plan.

      Qigong is another very good way to begin your day, I am happy to hear you do a morning preparation workout routine. I find just a short workout in the morning is so beneficial for me the rest of the day, I started doing two short workouts per day. One in the morning and one before bedtime, I am sleeping better and more relaxed for sleep by adding this evening workout.

    Hi there buddy,

    Personally, I think it is the best way to start the day, I start the day with one-hour session of a type of yoga called Qi Gong, (yes, it is a type of yoga).

    Benefits for are that I feel energized, positive, relaxed and when I am finished my meditation (20 mins) very vibrant and joyful, perhaps due to my Qi being channeled and focused!

    what is, in your opinion the best style of yoga to start the day off with?

      I did not know Qi Gong was a type of yoga, I have learned something new today. I have heard of Qi Gong , never tried it yet but may in the future.

      Everyone finds different yoga best for them when starting out, I experienced the Hatha yoga to be the best starter for most people. Very gentle and slow movements, most people can start out with this yoga without too many problems.

    Love this page! I love how you have a step by step list for people to begin yoga. I have a hard time fitting it in with two kiddos at home and a hubby that is always on the go. I didn’t realize how beneficial it was doing it in the morning. There are days I am doing it at night after the kids go to bed to relax but I think I may start getting up a little earlier to do it in the morning before they wake. Thank you for the post!
